Crowds lined up as Dollywood opened its gates for its 34thseason. The Festival of Nations is a big draw, but many line up hoping to see the parks biggest attraction, its namesake, Dolly Parton.

“The spring is full of entertainment here at Dollywood, so come on out, see the great groups from the festival of nations, we always love them, the great food and their families and your families” says Parton.

The entertainment line up is headlined by Drumstruck and Cuba Vibra with Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba. Drumstruck is the first interactive Drum-theatre experience where members of the audience become part of the show.

“We love having people come from all over the world because music is the universal language, we all come together with that because music is the voice of the soul” says Parton.

While there is always excitement for the shows, food and culture the Festival of Nations brings, there is also anticipation surrounding Dollywood’s newest addition, Wildwood Grove. The $37 million expansion is the biggest one in the park’s history. It is the park’s first new land expansion in more than a decade that will have new rides, restaurants and adventures for everyone.

This new land is near and dear to Parton’s heart as it will reflect how she remembers the mountains from her childhood and the nature and beauty of East Tennessee. She says “Wildwood Grove brings the spirit and the splendor of the smoky mountains to Dollywood like never before.”

Wildwood Grove will also feature a Wildwood Tree that will light up at dusk with lights that change throughout each festival of the park’s season. It is set to open May 10thand 11ththis year.
